Imogen Ruth MNCPS Accred.

Therapy in East London & Online

Welcome.

I'm Imogen, and I am a counsellor working in-person in East London, and online anywhere in the UK. I am a qualified member of the NCPS accredited register.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a variety of different theoretical approaches, informed by the individual needs of the person I am working with.

I work with all kinds of people, including people from stigmatised and marginalised groups who can experience unique barriers to therapy. I will strive to meet you where you are, without agenda.

I pay attention to the social and political context you inhabit, and within which our work together is taking place. I strive to work anti-oppressively and welcome exploration around what this might look like when we’re working together. I am committed to growth and development in this area, both personally and professionally.

Why Now?

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. There may be long-standing issues and patterns that are impacting your ability to live well, or it could be that you are going through a particularly difficult moment here and now, and feel in need of support.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental, and confidential space where you can explore what’s going on for you, and where we can look together at the barriers you might be experiencing between you and the life you want to live.

I work integratively, which means I draw from different approaches, but at its core my practice is person-centred and relational. This means that I trust in your innate human ability to heal, grow, and enact change. It also means that I believe our relationship to be a vital part of the success of the work we do together. My job is not to coach or direct you, but to meet you where you are as a fellow traveller on the road.

Fees

Sessions are £70, are 50 minutes long, and I am currently available for online sessions only. I am hoping to be able to offer in-person sessions in London within the next 6 weeks, so please do reach out if this would be preferable for you and you are happy to be added to a short waiting list.

Lower-cost

I operate a lower-cost arm of my practice, which is designed for those without the means to pay the full fee without suffering hardship as a result. This could be because you are unwaged, low-waged, precariously waged, chronically ill, no access to savings, etc. I don’t need you to explain to me why you need a lower-cost space or to provide any proof. If you tell me you need it, I trust that you need it.

These spaces are for a maximum of 12 weeks, and are £50 per session. Spaces are limited - I currently do have some availability for lower-cost therpay, and will operate a short waiting list once these spaces are full.

I am working toward being able to sustainably offer lower-cost long-term counselling, and when this is possible, this page will be updated.

Starting the process

There are as many ways to Do Therapy as there are therapists. Evidence shows that usually, the biggest factor in the efficacy of any kind of therapy is the quality of the relationship between the humans in the room.

If the relationship between me and the person I'm working with is vital to how helpful the work will be, it’s important that we have a proper chance to see if I’m the right therapist for you.

I offer a free online consultation of up to 50 minutes, where we can explore together whether I might be the right therapist for you. This isn't a therapy session, nor a full assessment - there's no obligation for you to commit to any sessions with me following this initial meeting.
